Introduction:
PACK
YOUR BAGS, VACATION TIME IS HERE!! Time
to plan the vacation of your dreams. You and a max of 2 friends have decided
to get away and enjoy yourselves. But get away to where?? It’s up to your group
to decide where to go with your allowed budget from the Real Game. Your vacation budget is the amount in your
bank account x 6. (Will each person
spend their own money? Will you pool
your money?)
So,
WHERE IN THE WORLD WILL YOU GO?? GOOD LUCK & ENJOY!!!
The Task:
The
mission of your task is to develop a presentation explaining your
vacation in detail such as where you will go and what you will do, and a budget
that shows how much money will be spent while on vacation.
The PowerPoint part of your presentation
must include the following slides but is not limited to them:
·
Slide #1:
a title page that states: 1) your group members’ names, 2)where you will
go on vacation, and 3)when you plan on taking the vacation.
·
Slide #2:
Background information about the place where you will vacation. Background
information that must be included is the state/country,
climate/weather, population, landmark(s), and common languages spoken. Optional
things to include would be any special requirements that need to be done before
going - like vaccinations, passports, currency exchange, time change, etc.
·
Slides #3 & 4:
What things you will be doing for entertainment while you are there. For
example, tourist attractions/sites, landmarks, activities, etc. A written list
of activities and related pictures/photos of the vacation site must be
included. You can use more than two slides for this but you are required to
have at least two slides for this area.
·
Slide #5:
This is where you will include your budget spreadsheet listing
all costs of the trip. Breakdown the cost into these 6 specific areas (all
of the following six areas must be included in budget): 1)all travel/transportation, 2)lodging (motels,
hotels, camping, etc.), 3)food/meals/snacks, 4)entertainment/activities,
and 5)souvenirs/shopping, camera/film.
Other costs may be included.
§
Use the computer spreadsheet of your
choice to create your budget – insert a table, Microsoft spreadsheet, Microsoft
Excel. You will also need to include an oral explanation during your
presentation to explain how you calculated the costs in each category.
The
Process:
Note: Before you start planning, make sure you plan a vacation
date that works for all group members and does not exceed any group members’
annual vacation time. For example, a teacher cannot go on vacation during the
school year. Plus, if you only get 1 week of annual vacation time, you cannot
go on vacation for 3 weeks!
Follow these steps to complete
the task:
1)
Research your dream vacation.
2)
Figure out what you will be doing or
touring and the costs involved during your vacation.
3)
Set up a budget in a spreadsheet format.
Be sure to include all 5 required costs in your budget.
4) Create
a PowerPoint presentation. Add graphics and be CREATIVE!! Make sure to have the
5 required slides and the required information in each slide.
5)
Designate individual responsibilities
for the oral presentation of your PowerPoint. Who will present what? What will be said to explain your slides?
6)
